
Whatever your day brings, then spare a little thought for the German people as they wrestle with one of their biggest election problems in a long time. The BBC site reports that Angela Merkel's conservatives have won Germany's election by just three seats, which isn't enough to secure victory. Where do you stand on Day Light Savings? No doubt you have a server somewhere that has never managed to stay in sync no matter what settings you tweek with
ntp. Well, those problems may only get worse, as
Jason Bell spotted last week that the USA Congress has passed a bill to increase the number of months day light savings are in effect by one month, going to the end of November. The hope here is that people will goto bed earlier and not use up as much electricity with lights and what have you. Now if they could just ratify the 36hour day instead of the 24 hours we have now, then that is something I could get behind. Read the full story here

The Register is running an interesting story today regarding a report released from Symantec citing that
FireFox and Apple Mac's are no more secure than Windows. Infact, they go further and state that we are living under a false economy if we think switching from IE to FireFox is minimising our risk. Fighting talk there me thinks. "
According to the latest edition of Symantec's Internet Security Threat Report, 25 vulnerabilities were disclosed for Mozilla browsers and 13 for Microsoft Internet Explorer in the first half of 2005." Oopsies. Other interesting tidbits is that 51% of spam originates from within the US, while 61% of all email traffic was spam of one sort or another. Read the full story here
Nearly missed this one, but Engadget have been reporting on the new Blackberry handset that is supposed to be in the works. They report the 8700 model, could be coming with GPS and a much larger screen. Its about time RIM got their finger out and appeased their legions of hard core Blackberry fans with a model that feels like a real Blackberry instead of that phone-looking piece of nonsense they released last year.
