Party policitcal conferences can be terribly dull affairs at the best times, so it was with a little surprise that the delegates at the UK's Conversative party got a surprise keynote speaker in the guise of Google's Big Cheese Eric Schmidt, reports ZDNET .
He was chittering on about the importance of the Internet in the evolving digital society and how governments should embrace the openness of this data instead of denying and censoring it. No doubt, after witnessing the looks of shock from the gazing audience he layered in one or two Google stories. One, which highlighted that Google's search is so fast, that a guy searched on his symptoms and it came back stating he was a having a heart attack seek medical assistance immediately. One life saved.
He also made an off-the-cuff remark about blogs stating that most blogs have precisely one reader, the blogger themselves! Personally, I take offence; I would never re-read this nonsense!
