Java 6 is out and she rocks!

posted Mon 11 Dec 06

Sun have released the latest version of Java to the masses.  As with all the major releases of the JDK, much improvement has been made on the performance, with people reporting anywhere up to 24% speed increase depending on the type of work you are putting it to.

Unlike Java5, this release does not introduce any new language features but concentrates on providing more access to other areas of the computing infastructure.  For example, included is the JSR223, which provides scripting support for the likes of Javascript (included), PHP and Ruby for example.
