MySQL will get a new storage engine to handle billions of records

Our favourite open source database engine is about to get itself a brand new storage engine, courtesy of Nitro Security Inc.

The engine will most likely be a replacement/alternative to Innodb and is said to be optimized for seriously high volume databases.
