Mike Mullins over at TechTarget writes a very good piece on the need for software management when it comes to patch management. The fact that security vulnerabilities are being reported is great, but a large percentage, he claims, of software goes without being updated or patched. This is a real problem, and a problem we at SpikeSource are solving with our SpikeNet update service.

The Sony rootkit problem is just getting worse and worse. Just as I went to bed last night, Glen pinged me the latest news regarding the use of code from the VideoLAN project. What is even more interesting, is that according to TheRegister, the code that was used was inactual fact the same code that the MPAA had coder, "DVD Jon" Johansen in court for his DVD DRM crack software. ooh the irony. Friends, we are witnessing a train wreck in slow motion and it still has no signs of stopping. Sit back and enjoy the show.
