Head of Eclipse interviewed, historic department closed and Solared powered Prius

posted Wed 17 Aug 05
The Eclipse.TechForge site has an interview with the head of the Eclipse Foundation Mike Milinkovich. He talks of many things including the future of Eclipse (modeling and the embedded space he believes) and the type of companies that are part of the Eclipse group, of which incidentally we at SpikeSource are proud, badge carrying members!

An historic moment has just occurred; the infamous department at AT&T that created such gems as UNIX has been officially disbanded. The members of this department reads like a Who's-Who of the early Internet pioneers. And now, thanks to Glen for giving me a stack of Douglas Adam's books, I now get the "And thanks for all the fish" reference at the end! Every day a learning day eh?

Finally, it would appear the iPOD isn't the only gadget that gets special treatment from the hacker community. The Toyota Prius, the hybrid car that is going down a storm in California at the moment, has been geekfied by someone fitting solar panels to the roof, squeezing an extra 10% efficiency! {Kim - would you mind if we try this experiment with yours? We can get you into the office 10% quicker! ;-)}
