My old chum has moved over to Linux Journal, this is great news. Kevin and I worked together at LinuxWorld and I found him to be a great source of inspiration. I look forward to reading his output from Linux Journal and wish him the best of luck.ComputerWorld has a good interview with Steve Mills at IBM. He talks about open source licenses and patent reform. A lot of sense is made in this interview, and one gets a rather pragmatic feeling from IBM. For example, he's not a big believer in being able to trim the number of licenses in the open source world; not because it would be too hard, because there is no point.

Finally, the BBC is running a story about a Channel5 TV series that commission the maker of "Jabba the Hut" to create a full size Nessie monster and have it swim in Loch Ness as they filmed the reaction of passers by. This is genius programming and one wonders why anyone hasn't done this before. Naturally, since everyone in Scotland knows the truth, one can only wonder what Nessie actually thought of her mechanical counterpart.
