Joe Barr over at Linux.com writes up an interesting post on how the Linux users can get their hands on podcasts. A podcast is merely an MP3 file of questionable drivel, that is downloaded usually at night or when your bandwidth is quiet based on data from RSS feeds. He talks about clients ranging from the traditional command-line interface to fancy desktop applications. Once downloaded you are free to do with it as you wish! How exciting eh?
Akihabara News is a great site for spotting all the latest toys coming from the far east. Sometimes they aren't all pushing the innovation envelope and other times they simply take 2 technologies and marry them together for something quite cool. Take for example the USB key that has a fingerprint reader built into it to protect the data. An excellent idea, and for someone like myself that can never remember passwords a perfect solution. These USB keys are beginning to get everywhere, only last week I spotted my wifes 2GB USB key, in the bathroom cabinet. I mean honestly!
Following on from yesterdays story about how beer can make the opposite sex look more sexy, Italian scientists have worked out that romantic love only lasts for around 12 months by measuring alterations in protein levels. After that, the feeling of euphoria falls and you become companionate lovers. Where does this leave us? Enjoy it while it lasts I guess as the whole mating ritual is way more complicated than any of us realise.
Countdown to Christmas Fact#26:
Laura Bush took delivery of the officially Christmas Tree for the White House yesterday, from the National Christmas Tree Association. Pulling up to the White House by a pair of horses, the tree will take pride and place in the Blue room. Interesting fact, the members of the association compete every year in regional competitions for the best tree, and the over all winner is the one that is chosen for the White House.
