Collecting the weird and wonderful
techy stories from in and around the interweb.
Andy spotted a cool Eclipse plugin that integrates with koders.com. It lets you do a context sensitive search for code snippets that are similar to the code you are composing now. I haven't decided if thats a good thing or not yet, sure as hell encourages plagiarism and it will get a little more sticky when it comes to the multitude of different open source licenses. Have some pity on poor Andy, he missed out on a new XBOX360 by only 2 places last night at Tescos!
It is that time of the year when the letter box starts to fill up with various christmas cards from people you can barely remember. The corporate christmas card is the best, that wonderfully heart felt standard issue message from one whole company to another whole company. In reality it's from one secretary to another. Well keep an eye out for one with a picture of Charles and Camilla on it. They are using one of their wedding photo's as their card of choice this year.
If you want a bit of a giggle while sipping down the morning coffee head over to The Register and enjoy the wonderful rant from Otto Stern as he picks away at the joys of flying and open source. Amusing, but true.
Countdown to Christmas Fact #23:
Following on from the Charles and Camilla christmas card, there is approximately 7billion cards sent each year, with 60% of that purely for Christmas with Valentines day ranging a close second at 25%. The average person receives around 20 cards per year, making it around 12 christmas cards.
