Daniel Lyons over at Forbes has an interesting piece on VA Software, the company behind SourceForge and Slashdot. The irony here, as Lyons points out, that while VA promote the use of open source at every turn, they are far from eating in their own kitchen, citing the reason they don't release their enterprise crown jewels is because they are scared someone will compete with them. Oh hum.If you are going into the gadget market, which group are you going to target? The golf market is rich pickings, with their large disposal incomes and if you can pray on their inability to hit a ball, by giving them hope through some sort of electronics then you have yourself a cow you can continually milk. Gizmodo is reporting on a golf watch that monitors all sorts of things during your game that you can download to your PC later!
Finally, Yahoo news is reporting on a story regarding corporate America getting behind blogging and the legal pitfalls that may be awaiting. By letting one's employee's talk their mind freely, it would appear, some take this opportunity with a little too much vigor. You would never see this blog abusing that trust, but while we are on the subject let me just say ------ ------- ---- -- ------ ----!! ---- - ----- ---. [we'd like to apologise for this out burst, the author is currently undergoing a company horse whipping. we hope he'll be back Monday]
